ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Stand-up comedy is a tough business to get into. So, there is a place in St. Pete that’s trying to provide another outlet to perform.
However, it’s not a club or a theater, it’s the brewery, If I Brewed the World.
From yoga, rock concerts to farmers markets, If I Brewed the World has participated in all sort of events.
“I want it to be this creative space and this space that has events and not just beer,” said owner Kevin Shaw. “I don’t want it to be this black-and-white thing that you come in and get a beer and leave.”
If I Brewed the World is hosting a comedy show once a month, as part of the national Brewery Comedy Tour. It’s a combination of national and local joke tellers.
“There is not too many that I know of, comedy outlets, around here so I think it’s a neater thing,” said Shaw.
Madison Sinclair and Daniel Crow are two of the comedians taking the stage in the brewery's first concert of the year.
“People get to see up and coming comics really early in their career and then trying out new material,” said Sinclair.
These comics will tell you the world of stand up is all about getting that key opportunity to make people laugh.
“Anywhere you can perform is always good, I’ve done shows of all sizes from two people to 2,000 so anytime you can do a show it’s fun,” said Crow.
Sinclair said it never hurts when the audience is in arms reach of a glass of beer.
“It’s always kind of fun to have the audience be drunk,” said Sinclair.
