Argument leads to shooting outside YMCA in St. Petersburg

One man was arrested and another sent to the hospital after an argument in the parking lot of a YMCA in St. Petersburg led to a shooting. 

According to police, they were called to a domestic-related shooting in the parking lot of the YMCA on 1st Avenue around 6 p.m.

Police said the suspect, Phelan Brown, got into an argument with his ex-girlfriend Chaunice White and her current boyfriend Gregg Johnson.

Brown fired a shot at the car White was in, but missed her. He then fired another shot at Johnson and grazed him.

Johnson and Brown struggled until police arrived and arrested Brown.

Johnson was taken to the hospital for treatment and is expected to be okay.

Brown is charged with Attempted Homicide and Aggravated Assault /Domestic Related.
