The man sustained multiple skull fractures and bleeding on the brain, according to ER doctors.

Donald James, 55, of 14 E. Lime Street in Tarpon Springs, is now charged with aggravated battery.

Police say during an argument over money early Sunday morning, James began beating the victim when he turned his back, striking the man by surprise.

Police say when they found James he was wearing a blood-stained sweatshirt.

An arrest affidavit states James admitted there was a disagreement with the victim over $5 but denies battering the man.
