St. Petersburg Police are investigating an incident on a PSTA bus which resulted in the death of a 91-year-old man.
According to police, Henri Lussier, from Largo was riding the bus on March 4 to an appointment at Bay Pines VA Hospital. He was in a mobility scooter that had been secured to prevent it from rolling forward and backward.
Police said the bus driven by Gary Krueger, 60, made a turn from 72nd Street to 22nd Avenue North at a "slightly" excessive speed and Lussier fell out of his scooter.
He hit his arm and chest on a metal seatbelt box on the floor.
Police said Krueger stopped the bus after the incident, but never called for help or reported the incident.
Two passengers help Lussier back onto his scooter and he was dropped off at Bay Pines.
Lussier actually rode his scooter into the emergency room.
He was transferred to Bayfront Health where he died seven days later as a result of the injuries.
Police are asking anyone who may have been on the bus to contact the St. Petersburg Police Department at 727-893-7780.
