ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A Homicide investigation is underway after a 23-year-old man fighting for his life died Wednesday morning due to a gunshot wound.

The St. Petersburg Police Department said officers responded to 4611 Haines Road around 11:00 p.m on Tuesday.

After arriving to the scene, they found the 23-year-old, who has not been identified, in the parking lot of a vacant business with a gunshot wound.

Paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he died Wednesday morning.

Detectives are searching the shooting scene for evidence that could help them identify a potential suspect.
