The Pinellas Park Police Department arrested a 16-year-old teenager after shooting and killing a homeless man he asked to buy him beer.

According to police, 16-year-old Jason Allen Olivo-Smith approached 44-year-old John Asch, who was homeless and lived near Kenneth City, at a convenience store at the corner of 66th Street N and 62nd Avenue on Monday. Olivo-Smith gave Asch some money to buy him beer.

Instead of purchasing the beer, Asch rode away west bound on 62 Avenue on his bicycle with the money. That's when, Olivo-Smith chased after him and shot him in the head with a handgun.

Police said, Asch was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries on Wednesday.

Olivo-Smith was booked into the Pinellas County Juvenile Assessment Center Thursday Night. He is being charged with first-degree murder.
