ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A Pinellas County high school freshman was arrested after yelling out in front of a class that he would "shoot up the class."

On Monday, a 15-year-old 9th grader at Lakewood High School reportedly yelled out in front of a class that he would shoot it up.

The comments were reported to school resource officers.

He is charged with false report of use of a firearm in a violent manner (felony F.S, 790.163 False report concerning planting a bomb, an explosive, or a weapon of mass destruction, or concerning the use of firearms in a violent manner).

The St. Petersburg Police Department says it takes all school threats very seriously for the safety of the students. Threatening comments/posts will always be investigated and result in serious consequences.
