Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office are investigating the drowning of a 1-year-old boy who was found submerged in the family's bathtub in unincorporated Clearwater.

According to detectives, 1-year-old Liam Morris was in the bathtub as the bath was being prepared for him Thursday evening. Minutes later his father, Alan Morris, found him submerged under the water.

Alan pulled Liam from the water and called 911. Madelynne Barenbrugge, Liam's mother, performed CPR until Largo Fire Rescue arrived on scene. Paramedics took over CPR.

Liam was transported by ambulance to the Largo Medical Center, where he later died.

The investigation is ongoing, but detectives say the incident appears to be accidental in nature.
