The Pasco Sheriff’s office is looking for at least three people who are making their rounds at Bay area Home Depot locations and stealing gift cards.

Surveillance video shows how the crooks are even assaulting store employees to get them.

Investigators said the people they are looking for have stolen thousands of dollars worth of gift cards.

The Pasco Sheriff’s office said the surveillance video shows three people caught in the act.

It happened Wednesday just after noon at the Zephyrhills location

Deputies said the group took several gift cards to the self-checkout register.

The video shows  how a clerk tries to intervene, but one of the people pushes her out of the way.

Witnesses said that person is a black man, actually dressed as a woman.

Investigators said he used the register to active $1,900 worth of gift cards.

The thief also pushed a customer before running out of the store.

The same crime happened at another Home Depot in Lake County, later that day.

In that theft, the group activated $5,000 worth of gift cards.

The Sheriff’s Office said similar thefts have happened at Home Depots from Hillsborough County to Citrus County.

In some cases, the thieves used violence to get to the registers. Other times they were able to distract the clerks.

Investigators said they are looking into how the thieves were able to active the cards and whether they’ve worked at Home Depot before.

Anyone with information on these thieves, are urged to call the Pasco Sheriff’s Tip line at 1-800-706-2488. Or submit an anonymous tip online.
