A Pasco man was critically injured after an officer-involved shooting following a domestic dispute Saturday morning.

Zephyrhills Police Department responded to a call at 5239 Beltram Dr. about a domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived, they said the violence between the suspect, 24-year-old Stephen Barton and the victim was actively physical.

One of the officers, Ray Revell, fired his gun to stop the threat of further violence.

Officers gave Barton first aid until Zephyrhills Fire Rescue arrived, and Barton was flown to a nearby hospital.

Preliminary investigation shows the use of force was "appropriate and necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily injury to another."

Officer Revell was placed on paid leave pending administrative review as per standard protocol.

Pasco Sheriff's Office Forensics Unit also responded to process the crime scene.

Barton faces multiple charges including attempted homicide and armed kidnapping.
