Pasco County officials want to teach you and your co-workers what to do in case of an emergency when first responders are still on their way.

That's why they're offering free disaster response training. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) wants to give people the decision-making skills and physical skills necessary to address urgent needs of the community when First Responders are not immediately available.

The basic training curriculum includes:

  • Program Orientation/Disaster Preparedness
  • Fire Safety and Suppression
  • Disaster Medical Operations
  • Light Search and Rescue Operations
  • Team Organization
  • Disaster Psychology/Communications
  • Terrorism
  • Disaster Exercises

The next session is April 24-26 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the emergency operations center at 8744 Government Drive, Building A in New Port Richey.

If you'd like to sign up or schedule a class for your work place, contact Courtney Wildes at (727) 847-8137 x 2383.
