PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A man in Pasco County is facing charges after he allegedly molested a 5-year-old girl, deputies say.
The man, 43-year-old Clyde Wilkes, was arrested after the victim told a guardian he touched her genitals, according to an affidavit. The victim told authorities Wilkes touched her inappropriately multiple times.
The affidavit shows that Wilkes initially denied touching the victim, claiming "he would never touch children." However, he changed his story when confronted with the evidence, saying he may have accidentally touched her while wrestling.
After further questioning, the affidavit shows Wilkes again changed his story. He claimed he "did not remember" and "did not recall" touching the young girl inappropriately. When authorities asked him if the victim would ever lie, Wilkes said she wouldn't.
He was arrested for lewd and lascivious molestation, according to the affidavit.
