In the middle of the woods, miles from where the chase started a K9 named Yogi found a wanted man.

Deputies were after John Suggs. They said he car jacked a 67-year-old Uber driver in Bradenton Tuesday night.

Suggs is accused of choking and hitting the driver. Michelle Bager was with Suggs as they drove off in the stolen car.

The two made it all the way to Land O’Lakes before crashing the car behind a house in the Wilderness Lakes subdivision.

Then Pasco Sheriff’s K9 team went to work. K9 Benco found Suggs’ shirt, and Yogi found Suggs.

“Everyone wants to catch the bad guy,” said Deputy Jim Hall.

Hall said Pasco’s K9 crew mostly made of up German Shepherds is a competitive one. He’s had Chris since April and said these highly trained dogs love to do the job.

“When the dog finds these criminals or these missing people, a lot of times they wouldn’t have been found at least that night or that time frame we are working on, without the dog,’ said Hall.

For K9 Chris, the best reward is getting to play with a rubber Kong toy.

The Pasco Sheriff Office has 18 K9s in all. They are paid for through donations.

As for their latest success Suggs and his companion went to jail.

The Uber driver suffered lacerations and road rash all over his body and his car is totaled.
