Pasco deputies want to identify driver who allegedly approached teenager, asked her to get in car

LAND O LAKES, Fla. — The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is trying to identify a man who approached a teenage girl in Land O' Lakes and asked her to get into his vehicle.

Deputies say it happened around 10 a.m. on Monday as the girl was walking into the parking lot of the Academy at The Lakes.

They say the driver of a dark gray Toyota Corolla with an unknown tag approached the high school junior while she was walking into the parking lot.

The man, described as a a heavy set black male with dreadlocks, rolled down his window and waved at the girl to come over to him. Deputies say he asked her to get into his car.

The girl said she had somewhere to be and quickly walked inside the building, deputies say. The man drove away, heading northbound on Collier Parkway.

Staff at the Academy at the Lakes, and the girl, said they had never seen the vehicle or man before.
