Pasco County deputies are searching for a man accused of trying to suffocate and kidnap a woman.

Jason Cheladyn, 44, put a bag over the woman’s head and tried to keep her in his car Tuesday in Hudson, according to Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

SUSPECT'S VEHICLE:

Red Hyundai with Florida tag BPSP50

Cheladyn arrived at the woman’s home sometime after 10:30 p.m. after the woman asked him to help take a friend who’d been bitten by a pet dog to the hospital, deputies said.

By the time he got there, the friend had already managed to get to a hospital. As Cheladyn and the 33-year-old woman sat in his car, he asked her if she wanted to smoke marijuana, deputies said, but she declined.

She turned to get out of his vehicle, deputies said, and that’s when he put the plastic bag over her head, trying to keep her in the car.

She fought back and was able to escape from the moving car.

Deputies have warrants for Cheladyn’s arrest on charges of simple battery and false imprisonment.

Cheladyn's neighbors said they saw him come home about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, but his whereabouts are still unknown.

If you have information on his location, call 911 or Pasco County Sheriff’s Office 727-847-8102.
