LAND O' LAKES, Fla. — A 38-year-old man died after being shot during a road rage incident on Tuesday night.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office says the confrontation started around 9:15 p.m. as a traffic crash at the intersection of Collier Parkway and State Road 54 in Land O' Lakes.

One of the drivers reportedly tried to leave the crash scene. The other driver apparently followed to the intersection of U.S. 41 and State Road 54 where at least one shot was fired from one vehicle to the other around 9:20 p.m.

Deputies identified the victim as Scott Ryan Bartolotti.

The shooter, 40-year-old Damion Brissett, was arrested and charged with 2nd degree murder.

Deputies now say the shooter remained at the scene and is cooperating with them during the investigation. In newly released audio between dispatchers and deputies, the caller told them he acted in self defense when he shot at Bartolotti.

"Caller is advising they got into a vehicle accident, got rear ended, advising the driver of the other vehicle tried to run caller over," said the dispatcher. "Caller then advising he had to dispatch his firearm and it's unknown if the suspect was hit by the firearm."

Deputies haven't confirmed that.
