PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A Bay Area ministry that helps 24,000 local families afford food and gifts for the holidays needs your help with donations.

Reydan Alexander may only be 12 years old, but he knows what it means for his family to get help with food for Thanksgiving dinner.

"That way we can pay the water bill and the electricity bill," said Reydan.

Like the Alexanders, most families that are helped by Metropolitan Ministries are living paycheck to paycheck or they're on a very fixed budget.

"This food is for any family coming and needing help," said Mary Treichel of Metropolitan Ministries.

Whether they are working or not, young or old, any families in need can come to their Tampa or Pasco location and get help.

"These people have been really helpful and I hope one day I can volunteer here to help give back," said Reydan.

And with the meal taken care of, families can focus on what really matters this Thanksgiving.

"I’m thankful to God for giving me the most wonderful family on earth and to God for making metropolitan ministries," said Reydan.

Metropolitan Ministries is still in need of turkeys, hams, and canned vegetables, but keep in mind while you’re out Black Friday shopping that for Christmas, they need to toys and items for kids of all ages, especially teens.

Metropolitan Ministries will be accepting holiday food and toy donations starting Monday at their Tampa and Pasco locations.
