A Florida man hit speeds of 153 mph while driving on the Suncoast Parkway in Pasco County and was arrested for DUI on Wednesday.

Samuel Ramos, 37, of Land O' Lakes, was driving a black Chevrolet Corvette near mile marker 18 on the Suncoast Parkway at approximately 3:13 a.m. when a trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol spotted Ramos' vehicle traveling at a dangerously high speed. The trooper made a visual estimate of about 150 mph and then used his radar gun and found Ramos was traveling at 153 miles per hour in a 70 miles per hour zone.

The trooper attempted to pull Ramos' vehicle over and observed the Corvette's brake lights come on to avoid another vehicle in the outside lane. Ramos pulled to the side of the roadway and the trooper spoke to Ramos and asked him to get out of the car.

The trooper told Ramos 153 miles per hour was excessive and Ramos responded, "I agreed 100%."

When Ramos exited the vehicle he was swaying while talking to the trooper, according to the arrest report. The trooper observed a strong odor coming from Ramos and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy. The trooper also added that Ramos was slurring his words during the traffic stop.

Ramos told the trooper "I haven't consumed any alcohol in the past three hours" but when asked how much alcohol he had consumed before those three hours, he responded, "I work in a bar so yes; I drank."

Ramos failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI.

He was transported to and booked into the Pasco County Jail.
