PASCO COUNTY, Fla. —  The New Port Richey man accused of attacking a man with a machete in 2015 is finally behind bars.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's office, Jason Putnam got into a road rage fight with Paul Lindbom Jr.

Lindbom Jr's father was there watching this all unfold. He said Putnam grabbed the machete from his car after his son knocked him to the ground.

"Pauly put his hands up to block him but he cut him," Lindbom Sr. said. "He almost took off his fingers."

Lindbom Sr. said he felt helpless during the fight.

"If I had a gun I would have shot him," he said.

It took deputies three years, but they finally caught Putnam Tuesday night.

He's being held on a $25,000 bond for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

"Good, they are keeping the public say with him behind bars," said Lindbom Sr.
