The Pasco County Sheriff's Office has arrested and charged a 30-year-old man who allegedly performed unlawful sex acts on a 5-year-old girl early Wednesday in Zephyrhills.
Brett Campbell, 30, of Zephyrhills has been charged with sexual battery to a victim under 12 years of age and lewd ad lascivious exhibition of a victim under 16 by a suspect.
On July 25, 2017 at approximately 5:46 a.m., a Pasco County detective investigated the allegations of a sexual battery, which occurred at a home in Zephyrhills.
The 5-year-old victim told detectives that Campbell sexually assaulted her on July 24, 2017 while Campbell was supervising her. The victim was examined by medical staff but did not sustain any visible injuries from the sexual assault. Detectives learned the details of the assault and the victim told them she cried.
Campbell admitted to performing some of the acts on the young victim.
Campbell was arrested and transported to Land O' Lakes Detention Facility without incident.
