Crews with Withlacoochee Electric are working to restore power to Wiregrass Ranch High school after the main power source to the school was struck by lightning on Sunday night.

School officials say they are having problems with the generator which would normally power the entire school during a main power outage. Technicians are working on the generator and are hoping to have it fixed soon.

Crews did not say when the issues are expected to be resolved.

The kitchen at the school is powered by a separate generator, so meals will be served to the students on Monday.

School officials also say that the phones are currently down.

Teachers are continuing to teach during the outage.

Parents are being asked to refrain from calling the school or district offices while the problem is being worked on.
