Caregiver arrested after using blow torch to intentionally burn juvenile's hair

Pasco County Deputies arrested a caregiver on Tuesday after he intentionally took a blowtorch to burn the hair on the teen he was providing care to.

Deputies responded to the 31000 block of Temple Stand Avenue in Wesley Chapel in response to an aggravated battery investigation.

A 17-year-old male called saying that he was being battered by his caregiver.

The investigation revealed that the caregiver struck the teen upon the face and head causing the male to complain of hearing loss to his right ear.

The caregiver struck the teen with a thick wooden coat hanger and used a small blow torch to intentionally burn the teen’s hair.

The caregiver provided a full confession and was arrested for aggravated child abuse.

The abuse hotline was notified. The teen suffered bruising and swelling to the head and face. He also suffered from a cut lip. The teen did not receive any injuries from the blow torch, only burned hair.
