DADE CITY, Fla. — A driver and two other people were hospitalized after a vehicle crashed through a Publix Liquor store Saturday.

Dade City police said the accident happened around 1:50 p.m. at the Publix Shopping Center at 11798 US Highway 301.

When officers arrived, they found a 2003 Dodge minivan driven by a 79-year-old woman. She crashed through the window and wall of the Publix Liquor store.

Two people were inside the store at the time of the accident.

An employee was working in the main aisle when he was struck by the vehicle. He suffered a cut to his arm and had upper body injuries.

A customer was also injured, possibly by glass and debris.

None of their injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

A preliminary investigation determined that the driver of the vehicle left the parking area, and for unknown reasons, jumped a curb and continued another 24 feet before striking the building.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to Lakeland Regional Hospital with undisclosed injuries.

This is still an ongoing investigation.
