PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — The brush fire that closed down Jay B. Starkey Wildreness Park Friday evening is 100% contained.
Officials said the fire was 110 acres in size. It was 100% contained Friday night.
Around 2:30 p.m., officials said the original 8 acre fire beginning around noon grew to 75 acres.
FFS firefighters back burned the fire in an effort to bring the fire under control. FFS had five tractors on the scene assisting firefighters.
Drivers reported light smoke conditions along Starkey Blvd. and there were reports of ash falling in nearby neighborhoods.
No homes were reported to be in danger.
