PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies arrested an Oldsmar man Sunday for driving recklessly after he allegedly tried to mow down a Palm Harbor homeowner.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office reports 27-year-old Nicholas James Douklias tried to intentionally hit Gregory Brown with his pickup truck.

According to arrest records, Brown was working in his yard Sunday just after 5:00 p.m. when he heard the sound of tires squealing and spinning. He looked up to see Douklias speeding and driving recklessly through his neighborhood.

Brown told deputies he tried to flag down the speeding driver because several kids live and play in the Michigan Avenue neighborhood. Authorities say that is when Douklias decided he would try to intentionally run the homeowner over by driving his white pickup truck off the road and swerving towards Brown.

Deputies say neighbors who witnessed the near-hit came out to confront Douklias.

John and Wayne Carroll said Douklias screamed at them, “What are you looking at? I will blow your f***ing brains out and kill your redneck a**!”

Brown, who was not injured, decided to press charges after he was nearly run over.
