3-alarm fire at commercial building in Oldsmar under investigation

Pinellas County Fire Rescue responded to a 3-alarm fire in Oldsmar on Monday evening.

According to investigators, deputies initially responded to AWS Carpenter Contractors at 100 Dunbar Avenue due to a security alarm going off.

When deputies arrived on scene around 8:10 p.m., they found fire and smoke coming from the rear of the 13,000-square-foot building and immediately notified the fire department.

Authorities say no one was inside the facility at the time of the fire. According to its website, AWS Carpenter Contractors is a full service manufacturing facility for in custom milled hardwoods.

Oldsmar Fire personnel and neighboring fire departments responded. More than 70 firefighters battled the fire for a couple of hours.

Detectives assigned to the Sheriff's Arson and Auto Theft Unit are now investigating cause of the fire.
