CLEARWATER, Fla. -- A man attacked three Clearwater police officers with a pocket knife during an arrest for domestic violence, officials said.

When the officers arrived shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday at the marina parking lot on Causeway Boulevard to check out a report of domestic violence, they found a man acting aggressive toward people helping a woman.

The officers immediately tried to take the suspect, identified as Justin Shuford, 35, into custody, a Clearwater Police Department report said.

They discovered the suspect was carrying a concealed small knife. The report said Shuford violently resisted arrest and stabbed and or cut the officers with the knife before being handcuffed.

All three officers, whose names have not been released, were treated for minor injuries at an area hospital and released.

Shuford was arrested on charges of attempted homicide, resisting arrest with violence, domestic violence and two counts of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.
