Clearwater China 1 restaurant extensively damaged by overnight fire

A fire extensively damaged a Chinese restaurant late Wednesday night in Clearwater.

Firefighters received the call at 11:32 p.m. the China 1 restaurant at 1825 Highland Avenue North was on fire. The flames were so intense crews called for a second alarm to battle the fire.

Officials say the fire might have originated in the restaurant's exhaust hood. The Fire Marshal is investigating the determine the cause.

The restaurant is located in a multi-unit strip plaza. Five other businesses in the building suffered some water and smoke damage due to the fire.

No one was hurt in the fire.
