SEFFNER, Fla. — No matter how much time goes by, Bruce and Pam Burnham remember March 29, 1973, like it was yesterday.

“That was the day that I left Vietnam for home", said Bruce Burnham.

Burnham and his wife settled in Seffner and both worked for the school district. Bruce spent several years teaching younger generations about what he went through during the Vietnam War.

“I believe it’s important to study Vietnam because it impacted how our country is today,” said Burnham.

The United States started celebrating Vietnam Veterans Day on March 29, 2012.

Burnham said the Vietnam era was a turbulent time for the United States.

"There are still a lot of Vietnam vets who still question and they’re cynical I hope we can reach out to them to say you did you’re best, you did your job and welcome home,” said Burnham.

There were about 58-thousand American casualties in Vietnam.
