A man found dead on a Clair-Mel City street has been identified as 38-year-old Thomas Edward Walker of Tampa.
On Saturday, deputies responded to the area of Libby Lane and Deerfield Lane in Clair-Mel City east of the Tampa city limits in reference to shots fired, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reported.
When deputies arrived they found a man lying near the street. A positive identification was completed overnight.
Deputies learned the victim was sitting on the corner with another person playing chess, a Hillsborough sheriff's office report said. When the victim walked away that is when someone drove by and fired multiple times, hitting Walker.
The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death.
