According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, 5-year-old Elijah Rogers died Saturday night after a hit-and-run crash.

Tina say she and Elijah were walking down Rogers Road just before 9:30 p.m. when the crash happened.

She said the driver blew past the stop sign and hit them head on. Then, according to Tina, the driver made a U-turn and drove back past them.

"You're a sick person for leaving the scene and leaving my baby just laying there," she said. "You killed my baby."

Investigators were able to track down the car they originally said was connected to the crash, but they've ruled that out.

Tina wasn't able to get a good look at the vehicle that hit them. She said it was dark out and she was busy trying to save her son.

"I'm his protector," she cried. "I didn't protect him."

She said she will not rest until the driver is caught.

"I'm going to fight for justice for my son," she said. "The driver took a piece of my heart away. "
