TAMPA, Fla. -- Social distancing guidelines due to COVID-19 have put a stop to many birthday parties for kids across the Tampa Bay area. But the nonprofit organization Celebrate Birthdays is working to make sure kids still have the means to enjoy their special day.

Demands for Celebrate Birthday's "Birthday in a Box" have substantially increased, according to Belinda Leto.

Leto is one of the founders of Celebrate Birthdays. The nonprofit is still working to make sure every child can celebrate their birthday, especially in these difficult times.

How you can help

The organization is in need of donations of cake mixes, frosting, disposable forks and tablecloths. Those can be dropped off or mailed to their location located at 611 N. New Jersey Avenue, Tampa, FL 33609.

However, for $25 you can also purchase a "Birthday in a Box" for a child in need.

Each Birthday in a Box includes:

  • Cake Mix
  • Frosting
  • Cake Pan
  • Tablecloth
  • Candles
  • Plastic-ware
  • Napkins
  • Paper Plates
  • Cups
  • Streamers
  • Games and Activities
  • Book
  • Present for the child

Each box can be customized for the child's own interests.
