TAMPA, Fla. — The Winter Village in downtown Tampa's Curtis Hixon Park opens Friday with a huge skating rink, sinful seasonal foods, plus a choo-choo train and snow for the kiddos.

Admission to stroll the village and see the musical light show remains free.

But the annual holiday bash put on by the Tampa Downtown Partnership will have new pandemic safety measures in place.

The event is scaling down this year (no sand sculpture demonstrations, fewer shops) in order to accommodate greater social distance space. Masks must be worn when not eating or drinking.

Another big change? To accommodate crowds in a safe timely fashion, ice-skating tickets must be reserved online in advance. The cost is $15 for 75 minutes. Rental skates are available.
