HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. -- One Hillsborough County classroom has found a way to go on field trips without ever leaving their seats.

Dual language students at Doris Ross Reddick Elementary are traveling to other countries, virtually.

For Hispanic Heritage month, students are doing video calls with students in Cuba, Argentina and the Dominican Republic.

Because of the limitations of COVID-19, teachers have gotten creative in coming up with different ways for kids to learn.

"There’s not a lot of movement. There’s not a lot of traveling, and we can’t go on field trips. So we're having the field trips come to us. They’re not only coming into our classroom but they’re reaching the students who are still learning from home," Suzanne Mason, a teacher and parent.

Teachers say the silver lining of this pandemic is that virtual learning has expanded their abilities to connect with people in different locations on a level like never before.
