Tampa police identify shooter involved in the death of an 18-year-old at Curtis Hixon park

TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa police have identified the shooter who killed an 18-year-old at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.

Police said detectives interviewed the shooter and believe they have recovered the firearm.

Officers responded to a call of a shooting at the entrance to the park near North Ashley Drive and Zack Street shortly early Sunday morning.

The teen who was shot, later identified as 18-year-old Antonio "Jay Jay" McGuire, was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

Police said there were nearly 100 people at the park last night shortly after 9:30 p.m., causing a disturbance and fighting.

Detectives believe the victim and suspect were part of the crowd.
