THONOTOSASSA, Fla. — A village of tiny homes in Thonotosassa has become a big draw for Tampa Bay area millennials looking to save money, simplify life and lessen their carbon footprint.

The tiny home craze — starring wee domiciles around 500 to 600 square feet — is a worldwide phenomenon now catching on here.

The 10 downright adorable units at Escape Tampa Bay Village, not far from Busch Gardens, start at around $75,000 and go as high as $110,000.

Imagine if IKEA built the Hobbit houses in “Lord of the Rings,” and you’ll get the gist of this place.

Utility bills are equally low, sometimes around $25 per month. The tiny homes here sleep two to four comfortably.

“One of the big things we hear is people saying ‘This is all we really needed in the first place,’” says Escape Tampa Bay’s Dave Peterson.

Peterson’s been giving a whopping 30 tours a day, including a lot of millennials, looking to downsize fiscally and socially.

Eight units are left to purchase in the Thonotosassa village.
