17-year-old boy shot and killed at Wimauma home

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Someone shot and killed a teenager Wednesday night in Wimauma.

Dispatchers received multiple 911 calls just before 7:00 p.m. regarding a shooting on the 500 block of 9th Street.

The Sheriff's Office says deputies arrived within ten minutes and found a 17-year-old boy inside a home suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The teen died before paramedics could arrive on scene.

"This is yet another tragic situation that has taken the life of a young person far too soon," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "If you have any information, please call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Any tip could be the one that solves this case."

Detectives are investigating if the teen was shot inside his house and are interviewing neighbors who witnessed the shooting.

A suspect vehicle has been potentially identified during the investigation. The vehicle has been potentially identified as a 2013-25 Chevrolet Malibu. It is a light color four-door sedan, and it has two reflectors in the rear bumper and one reflector in the upper trunk area.
