BRANDON, Fla. — An investigation is underway after a 16-year-old was hit and killed by an SUV in Brandon on Sunday night, the sheriff's office says.
Deputies say around 7:30 p.m. Terry Martin crossed Parsons Avenue, just south of Clemons Road, into the path of the SUV.

The driver saw Martin and tried to stop but was unable to avoid the crash, deputies say. The driver is not facing charges at this time.
Martin's bicycle was hit on the left side by the front of the SUV. He died at the scene, deputies say.
No other information has been released.
