TAMPA, Fla. — A body was found in the pool at the Bryan Glazer Family JCC when the privately owned recreation center opened Sunday morning, Tampa Police say.

A lifeguard discovered the body of a woman in the lap pool about 7 a.m. and notified police immediately, a Bryan Glazer Family JCC news release said.

The woman jumped the perimeter fence at Armenia Avenue then jumped another fence adjacent to the pool deck, Glazer Family center's executive director Heidi Shimberg said in the release.

The woman's identity has not been released, pending notification of next of kin, Tampa police Lt. Ricardo Ubinas said.

The pool is located on the west side of the recreation center near North Armenia Avenue and West Gray Street.

When the body was removed from the water, there were no obvious signs of foul play, Ubinas said.

Based on a preliminary investigation, the young woman's death appeared to be an accidental drowning, a Tampa Police Department news release said. However, that has not been confirmed.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of death, Ubinas said.

The police are asking anyone with information to contact the Tampa Police Department at (813) 231-6130.
