TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan is establishing the Chief's Community Advisory Team and is looking for applicants.

Officials said the team will serve as community liaisons to the chief and weigh in on issues surrounding the department.

They will also make suggestions on how officers can build better relationships and trust within the department. The chief will select 10 applicants.

Here are some of the qualifications:

  • You must reside within the city limits of Tampa for the last five years
  • Be in good standing with the community
  • Available to meet one-on-one with the chief for scheduled meetings

Officials said the diverse team of Tampa residents will be selected to ensure the chief hears directly from community members.

"I look forward to working with people from all walks of life and to listen to their thoughts on how we police the city of Tampa," said Chief Dugan.
