A local church is offering free tutoring to middle and high school-aged students who need a little extra help.

Between online school and added pandemic stress, it's no secret kids are having a bit of a tougher time keeping up with their grades.

To help, the New St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Tampa started up a free online tutoring program for kids in the community.

It's called "Bring your Bookbag for Better Grades."

The church is providing certified expert tutoring in math and science seven days a week for kids in grades 6-12.

“We know that kids are, from what we’re being told, struggling in school. And they can go online, meet with teachers that we are paying, the church is paying, and they can get online and be tutored after school in the various subjects,” Pastor Alec Fitzgerald Hall said.

The program has the capacity to tutor around 35 kids, and there are still many spots available. You do not have to attend the church to participate in these services.
