TAMPA, Fla. — A man in Tampa is wanted after deputies say he attempted to rob a 7-Eleven early Sunday morning.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says the man went into the store on Dale Mabry around 2:40 a.m. He paid for a bag of peanut M&Ms before trying to rob the cashier when she opened the cash drawer.

Deputies say the man pulled an unknown white object in the shape of a handgun from his waist and grabbed the woman across the counter. Deputies say she immediately shut the drawer and backed away.

The man did not get any money and ran away on foot, the sheriff's office says.

The man is seen on surveillance video wearing a lime green hat, white socks, black sandals, a blue t-shirt and blue gym shorts. He is described as a white man, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, 40 to 45 years old and weighing 160 to 170 pounds.
