Nationally, students from at least 40 states plan to participate in the event called "Stand for the second."

According to the event website, students at Durant High School in Plant City and All Hope Christian Academy in Lakeland will take part.

Students plan to walk out of class for 16 minutes. The website says organizers chose 16 minutes because it's one minute less than the "other side" took.
