HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. -- FHP is investigating an "aggressive driving incident" on I-4 where a gun was fired at a vehicle.

It happened Monday night on westbound I-4 near Branch Forbes Rd. in Dover.

The victim, 38, was uninjured but his 2019 Volkswagen Jetta was struck by a passing round, FHP says.

"I guess he assumed that I cut him off or what not, which I did not," the caller is heard saying on a call with FHP. "Started flashing his lights and riding my bumpber for a bit and proceeeed to pull up next to me and yell at me and what not and then as I tried to go around him he shot at my car."

The suspect is described as a white male with facial hair who was operating a maroon pickup truck, likely a Toyota Tacoma.

"It’s scary it really is, especially with me being a mother of two children and everything it’s scary," said Emileen Truman, driving in the area off the interstate Tuesday.

"Right here especially yes. Everybody’s honking at each other nobody wants to slow down and it’s horrible," said Kristen Miller, who works at a produce stand off the exit.

Troopers shared some tips for avoiding aggressive drivers, including getting out of their way, staying relaxed, not challenging them, giving them the benefit of the doubt, not blocking and passing lane and reporting aggressive drivers.

"There’s no sense in it everybody’s trying to get to where they need to go and everybody’s in a rush ‘cuz it’s the holidays but everybody just needs to slow down and remember they’re not the only ones on the highway," Miller said.

Anyone with information is asked to call FHP or Crime Stoppers.
