Pollen blanketing your car? Allergy season is peaking right now

Trying to book an appointment to see an allergist in the bay area may be harder than usual as allergy season is peaking right now.

Doctor Ami Degala, allergist with Advanced Allergy & Asthma Care, tells us she has been working extra hours just to get patients in to see a specialist.

She explains it's the "Trick of the Trees," right now -- meaning with the drier and warmer weather, trees are tricked into thinking it's already Spring, therefore, pollinating earlier. 

Some tips: 

  • Avoid outdoors during the peak hours of 5:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.
  • Shower after being outdoors to stop pollen from circulating around your home
  • Change air filters as part of your Spring cleaning
  • Keep your windows closed

Eye glasses and hats are also recommended. 

Allergy season is expected to last through Memorial Day.
