TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa police are investigating a murder that happened early Friday morning.
Police said at 12:26 a.m., officers were dispatched to the report of shots heard in the 2700 block of E. 18th Ave.
Officers arrived on the scene and located a victim at E. 25th Ave and E. 18th Street in the driver's seat of a running car that crashed into a tree.
The victim was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers provided emergency first-aid until the arrival of Tampa Fire Rescue.
The victim was then transported to Tamp General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives are actively developing leads in the case.
Early investigation believes this may not be a random incident, however, nothing has been ruled out.
