House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is moving forward with a formal impeachment inquiry following a whistle-blower report on President Donald Trump.

The report claims President Trump pressured the Ukrainian president to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son.

President Trump called it a "witch hunt."

Attorneys for the whistle-blower are now trying to strike a deal for their client to testify in private before the Congressional Intelligence Committee, which could happen as soon as this week.

ABC Action News political expert Dr. Susan Macmanus believes this move by the Democrats may actually backfire.

"There is a weariness setting in Americans that really is, in my judgment, concerning to our democracy. Where people are so weary that they don't want to listen to any of this," Dr. Macmanus said. "This is an important discussion."
