Hillsborough County Deputies arrested the parents of three young children for taking their kids with them while they stole nearly $300 in merchandise from the Walmart in Wimauma.

Deputies say 23-year-old Desiree McNeely and 26-year-old Ryan Thompson took the children, ages 2, 3 and 5, into the store as they filled a cart with merchandise and walked out without paying.

When they were confronted by store security, the family fled the scene. Deputies quickly caught them.

Family members of the suspects say they were contacted to pick the children up as they waited with deputies on the side of the street.

Both parents are still in jail.
