TAMPA, Fla. — A $500 million dollar project off Interstate 275 hopes to connect downtown Tampa and the Westshore Business District.

On Thursday, public comment will be held at Tampa City Council for the project being called Midtown Tampa.

The New York developer wants to put the project at the southeast corner of I-275 and N. Dale Mabry Highway.

The hope is to bring 240,000 square feet of retail and entertainment space, mixed office use space and 400 multi-family spaces that could be apartments or condos.

“The site will be recognized for its dynamic combination of office, retail, hotel, and four-acre pedestrian-friendly public spaces," said CEO Nicholas Haines with the Bromley Companies.

Along with walkable spaces, there would be a pond with a fountain and structured parking.

There will be public comment at 6 p.m. on Thursday and another public comment session May 3, 2018, at 10:30 a.m.
