Man's body found by Tampa officials after multiple witnesses say the swimmer was in distress

TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa police found the body of a swimmer in distress Friday afternoon.

Officials said Tampa police and Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a reported swimmer in distress at 10:55 a.m.

According to witnesses, a man was seen around 100 yards southwest of 33 South Treasure Drive in Culbreath Bayou near the Beach Park area.

Multiple witnesses said they saw the man yelling for help before he went under the water.

Around 3 p.m., officials said they located the body of the swimmer in the water.
